Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and in today’s post, we’re going to be talking about love. Let’s pray.

Heavenly Father, You have not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and a sound mind. Help us to walk in love in everything we do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Walk in love, marche dans l’amour

Those are the lyrics that a church group sang on a Sunday morning, but I realized we can sing the words to a song without necessarily living out the meaning of the words. When we walk in love, what does that mean?

When I look at 1 Corinthians 13, I see a definition of love, and when I think of love, I can use that as a test to determine if I’m walking in love. For example, love is patient and kind (NLT). Is Julie patient and kind? If not, then I’m not walking in love. Is Julie not jealous or boastful or proud? Then she’s walking in love. If I can affirm that I do those things and the Lord affirms that it’s true, then I’m walking in love. However, this is not a way to make us proud or puffed up.

When I walk in love, I show the love of Christ in me towards others. It does not envy or boast. I’ll be honest, that’s an area that the Lord is working on me hard, yet He’s helping me walk in love because He wants me to be like Christ.

What about you? Are there any things that you can be growing in when it comes to love? It can be the same things as mine or it can be something totally different, yet the call is for us to walk in love.

In fact, in Colossians 3:14, apostle Paul tells us to “clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony” (NLT). When we clothe ourselves with love, we’re showing God that we are taking on His nature as His daughters and sons.

So my friend, what does it look like to walk in love? Take a look at the Bible. It’s an example of how God demonstrates His love towards others, and calls us to love one another if we are His followers.

Father, You are good. You are kind. Help us to walk in love the way You want us to. Thank You for Your love. Help us to know Your truth that You set us free. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
