What Does It Mean to Be a Friend?
Hey friend! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, we’re going to be talking about FRIENDSHIP. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are so good and so kind. Teach us to number our days. Teach us to be good friends. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” That’s what Proverbs 17:17, ESV, says about friends.
When you have friendships, there are certain criteria that you should have - they should be able to love at all times. Friends know wrongs, but they’re willing to let them go for the sake of love, and I’m not saying to be abusive to your friendships, but be mindful that there will be hurts and take that in mind when choosing to love.
When it means a brother is born for adversity, it means there’s a level of friendship where one will be supported when trouble comes their way.
I have a friend, who is there for times of adversity. His name is God, and though I don’t see Him, He’s always there. You see, when I go through mental health troubles, I can call on Him because He will supply my needs. He will show me how to navigate those waters. When He says in Isaiah, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,” He means that. God is there as a Friend, ready for times of adversity.
Lately, God has been showing me what it means to be a friend, and I’m learning there are many areas I can improve on, but in the meantime, I can see I’m learning. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being good. Teach me to number my days. Help me to be a good friend. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
