Shame..

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, we’re going to be talking about shame. Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are kind. Thank You that shame is not from You. You don’t put to shame. Help us to walk in righteousness Abba. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

When we talk about shame, we talk about the feeling (often negative) that comes from an action that was deemed wrong. Some people may feel shame because of embarrassment. Others may feel shame as a result of knowledge (that is, they become aware that something they did is wrong), and they dwell on it.

Oftentimes, when we are ashamed, we have to be careful that a thought against our identity is not winning. God’s Word says we are called to take every thought captive and bring it under obedience (2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV).

There are times where we may feel embarrassed, and we just didn’t know! We didn’t know the thing we did wasn’t right until it was revealed to us, but that doesn’t mean to talk negatively against ourselves as a result.

You see, the enemy is crafty. He’s waiting for an opportune time to get you to agree with what he says.

“You’re not worthy” he says. “Look at that mistake. No one will ever forgive you.” But God’s Word says that we all fall short of the glory of God. That’s not to make a habit of sin, but we all mess up.

“You’re not loved or lovable,” he says… “Compromise your values so others can love you.” Yet God’s Word says “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).

God’s Word stands above all, and we have to take everything captive, even the thoughts that may appear as our own.

Friend, God loves you.

Take every thought captive and stick to His truth. Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that we are to take every thought captive. Help us to be obedient to You in that regard. Thank You Abba. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.

That’s all I have for today! Don’t forget these three things: you are loved, salty, and lit!

Talk to you soon! 🧡
