A New One: Consecrated
Hey y’all! It’s your girl Julie, back with another post of “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, we’re going to talk about being consecrated. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are good. Teach us to know Your ways. You call us to live lives sacrificed to You. Teach us to live consecrated lives unto You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him” (Romans 12:1, NLT).
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2, NLT).
Consecrated.
How many of you know what it means to be consecrated?
It means to be set apart. Set apart for a particular service.
God has been showing me what it’s like to be consecrated. From what I’m understanding, it means to be fully devoted to something or a particular purpose.
For example, Joshua was consecrated unto God, in which he devoted himself and God chose Joshua to serve Him and complete the mission God set before Joshua. Joshua’s consecration was a bit different, in that he devoted his time onto God. When Moses went back to the camp in Exodus 33:11, Joshua stayed in the camp, and from my interpretation, I believe he was spending time with God. He was consecrating himself by spending time with the Lord.
I understand that consecration requires being set apart for something and to steward something rightly, one must devote time to and for what they are consecrated to. You can be consecrated to God, but what can help your consecration is you intentionally spending time with God, devoting yourself to Him and His will.
It takes a sacrifice. Trust me, I know, but that’s what consecration is. It’s a sacrifice unto God.
In Romans 12:1, it talks about a different kind of consecration: being a living sacrifice. You are living for the Lord DAILY. You are killing your flesh daily. You’re choosing to delight in the Lord’s commands daily.
Friend, it’s not always easy being consecrated, but one thing I know is that consecrated people are effective in the kingdom, and it’s not because they are doing it in their own strengths, but they are being conduits of what the Lord is doing in a particular season.
So friend, are you partnering with God to do His will, consecrating yourself unto Him? If not, how can you do so? You can pray this prayer below if you need help.
Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your truth. Help us to live lives consecrated unto You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
That’s all I have for today! Don’t forget these things: you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
