How Salty & Lit Came.
It all started with a blog.
For as long as I could remember, I started blogging when I was in fourth grade. I had a classmate, who had a blog, so I decided to try it out myself. Does anyone remember “Blogspot?” Then I recall creating a blog based on an English assignment; it was about natural hair, but I noticed I could get something going with it. Over time, I deleted it, but then I found my way into blogging forreal forreal at Smith College.
When I tell you Smith College was an experience, IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE. I began writing documenting my experiences in college, but it wasn’t for everyone to see. I began signing off with “Salty & Lit,” even making a logo for it, with no intention of posting it. Then, I launched it. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t what I expected: being known as “Salty & Lit,” but God was using it for His glory. I wrote, He talked, it was like my own thing with God, and people just got to see into it. I learned writing was a key thing for me, journaling another, but I found “Salty & Lit” as a way to host all of my interests: education, faith, and teaching.
If you’d told me I’d still be doing “Salty & Lit” at a young age, I’d be happy because that’s all I saw myself doing, but God has different plans and I have to trust Him with it. It’s a full circle moment, because one of my first blog posts for “Salty & Lit,” was called “Trust,” learning to trust God in the unknown, and I’m still learning, trust that is.
But in the end, God’s got His hand on me, letting me know “Salty & Lit” is needed, so for you, how did you come to know “Salty & Lit?” What does it mean for you, and what’s a favorite post of yours?
This style is a little different today, but that’s all I have for today! Don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
