Surrender.

What does it mean to surrender your life to God? Does it mean you wait for God to do something and then you move? In this topic of "The Waiting Game," we will talk about the need to surrender and its requirement for those who are in the faith. But before I begin, let's pray.

Abba, You are so good, matchless even. As we turn our hearts to You, please teach us to surrender the way You want us to. Amen.

Surrender is a "simple" word, yet it has a profound impact on our lives when we live that out. The definition of surrender is "to yield (something) to the possession or power of another," meaning that surrender often has to do with giving up, which isn't always necessarily a bad thing. In the Bible, we hear about so many instances of people who lived surrendered lives to God and the fruit of being surrendered.

How can this be? While it may look like being surrendered is weak, it actually enables us to be strong in the Lord's power. When we surrender, we yield ourselves to what God has in store, saying that though I have my own plans, I will submit to Yours. Submission isn't always easy because it requires us to deny our own desires. But my friend, when you submit and surrender to the Lord's plans, you won't regret it.

During this time, I want you to consider surrender in your own life. What does it look like for you? What would it look like to live a life of submission? Are there fears you may have regarding surrender? If so, name those things, God wants to hear from you.

Lastly, for those who may not know how surrender may look like for someone does not have a relationship with God but desires to, one: I am so glad that you have this desire, two: say this prayer that will teach you about submission.

Lord, thank You for this word about surrender and submission. I would like to learn how to, but I don't know where to begin. I, however, recognize You as the Lord of my life and recognize that Jesus died on the cross to allow me to be in right standing with You, and He rose on the third day to establish right relationship with You. Lord, teach me how to submit and to yield with your Holy Spirit. Amen.
