Pray.
Hey everyone! It’s your girl, Julie, and we’re back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” Let’s pray.
Dear God, thank You for rest. Thank You that it’s a gift from You. Help us to rest. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
So rest… It’s a four letter word that means to cease from doing things. When we rest, we are stopping what we are doing (an activity) in order to give a break to ourselves.
When we rest, it’s for our goods because God designed rest. In Genesis 2:2-3 (NKJV), it says, “2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”
That means, God stopped what He was doing, which was creating, in order for Him to rest.
Something that I want to tell you is that rest is important: 1. Because God did it, and 2. It shows we trust God in the process.
In life, there’s always something we could be doing, but when we choose to rest, it’s like we’re saying, we’re trusting God does the rest in our lives. When we rest, we show that God is in control because we are not trying to take matters in our own hands.
I’ll be honest, I struggle with rest at times. I struggle in trusting God with the rest, knowing He’s in control, but God has been gracious in letting me see that when I don’t rest, it takes a toll on me - physically, mentally, emotionally, and all the likes. When I rest, however, I show God that I trust Him to be in control of my life. However, it’s hard, only because I let it be, but I have a choice. I can either trust God with rest or control myself and work all the time.
So what’s your choice: Are you going to rest or trust God?
Let’s pray:
Father, You are so good. Thank You for rest. Thank You that it’s a gift from You. Help us to rest in You. Amen.
Don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
