How to Stop Worrying.

How many of you like to worry? I mean, I’ll be honest, I like to worry, but I’ve been learning about the fact that I have a choice on whether to keep worrying or not. Let’s pray.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are good. Help us to apply Your truths when it comes to worrying. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and we’re back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’re going to be talking about how to stop worrying.

In the Bible, there’s a story about a sister named Martha, who is preparing a gathering and invites Jesus. Her sister, Mary, is there, but Mary is sitting at the feet of Jesus. While Martha is anxiously preparing, she gets upset at Mary for not helping and asks Jesus to reprimand her. However, Jesus tells Martha that Mary chose the right thing.

I’m reading this book called “People Pleaser,” and the author highlights a few things that I didn’t realize about this passage: 1. Martha was the host, and 2. It’s not the fact that Martha hosted the event that was the problem; it was the fact that she was distracted and worried about so many things. Even with Mary being there, she could’ve known that there were a lot of things to prepare as well, but she decided to sit at Jesus’s feet to learn (Luke 10:38-42).

This is a reminder to me, who often is anxious about many things. I ask God for help, and He lets me know in His Word that anything I am anxious about, I can turn into a prayer point. For example, I can feel anxious about work. I can ask God to help me in stewarding my job well and not to get offended by the kids’ behaviors. I can ask for help in my church. God, give me the strength to steward my resources to teach Your students well. I can use it as a prayer point for everything, according to Philippians 4:6-7. However, I have to continue to give thanks, and cast it to God. That means, when I cast it on God, I remind myself that I gave it to Him, and I don’t have to take that load anymore.

So what does that mean for you?

What does it look like to cast your care on God? What does it mean to look like a Martha in this season of your life? How can you turn into being a Mary? Let’s pray.

Father, You are so good. Thank You for being righteous. Help us to know and understand that we can cast our anxieties on You because You care. Help us to trust You more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
