Perseverance.

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and we’re back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’ll be talking about perseverance. Let’s go.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being good and kind. Thank You for teaching us that perseverance brings breakthrough, if we stay the course. Teach us Your ways and to be obedient to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

When envisioning perseverance, I imagined someone who is getting ready to run a race. There’s a look of determination, preparing for what’s to come. There’s a fixated mindset that no matter what comes, that person’s goal is to get to the finish line. Perseverance is defined as the quality of continuing to try and achieve a goal despite facing difficulties, delays, or discouragement (Gemini, 2026). In other words, perseverance is continuing to try in spite of what might have happened. The Holy Spirit produces perseverance in us to aid us to be more like Christ. James says in James 1 that when your faith is tested, it produces patient endurance (in other translations, it says perseverance). Perseverance is a fruit that comes from submitting to the process that the Lord takes you through. For example, there are many people in the Bible who faced trials in their times; for example, Joseph faced a trial of being forced into slavery by his brothers; yet through that, he learned patience and perseverance and ended up saying, “God put him where he is, so he can help others.” Joseph was tried and was found to have a servant’s heart, in the midst of what he endured.

Moses had faced a trial in his own life; though he was in the wilderness for his own actions, God molded that experience to mold him into the way He wanted Moses to be, so that he (Moses) can shepherd God’s flock.

In all these experiences, we learn that God uses these experiences to develop our perseverance. It’s to make us more like His Son, Jesus.

So all in all friend, our goal is to be like Christ, and with Christ, we’re able to persevere through trials because we know it’s not for our own gain: it’s to be more like Christ. Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are so good. Thank You for being kind and for being the Potter. Teach us to recognize that trials are to help us become more like You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
