“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
(Matthew 11:28, ESV)
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit,” and today, I want to talk about “Lonely Load Carriers,” but with a different twist. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for who You are. Thank You that there is nothing that we can hide from You. Help us to be honest with You and see sins as they are. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
While writing “Lonely Load Carriers,” the other day, I heard a song from the Chants d’Esperance in my thoughts: “Nan pwen fado ke Jezi pa ka pote, Nan pwen tristes ke Li pa t genyen tou, Malgre jou yo ka bay lajwa ou tristes, Jezi la pou toujou.” Essentially, the song means, “There is nothing that Jesus can’t handle, there’s no sadness He didn’t experience, but even if the days bring joy or sadness, He is always here.”
But the thing I want to challenge is how many of us actually talk to God about what’s going on? How many of us are honest about what we’re going through? Jesus knows about our struggles, and He will guide until the day is done, but at the end of the day, He wants to hear from you, yes you, about what you’re going through.
There’s a verse in Matthew that says this: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Jesus further tells the crowd, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart.” (verse 29ab). We learn about Jesus’ character: He is gentle and lowly in heart. He cares about you and what you’re going through, and He’s a teacher. He invites you to learn from Him, so you can do life His way.
When you’re a lonely load carrier, you’re doing life alone, thinking you have to carry things by yourself, but you don’t. As I mentioned in past posts, you are created for community, and you lean on the individuals God has placed in your life. When you’re a lonely load carrier, you can be depressed because there’s no one there to support you. However, there’s Someone who is always there: His name is Jesus. He will be there for you at every moment.
For the one struggling with community, ask Jesus to point out people in your life who are to be part of your community. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are good. Thank You for being our friend. Help us to trust You in everything and trust that You’re the ultimate Friend. Help us to lean on You because You do care for us and show us the people You want us to hang out with in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
