Fighting Season.
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and we’re back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” Here, we’re going to be talking about fighting season. Let’s pray.
Father God, You are good. Thank You for creating us to be warriors. Help us to fight for Your kingdom to come in our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
It’s fighting season, sis, but what does it actually mean to be in fighting season? It means to acknowledge that we are in a war - not against flesh and blood enemies, but spiritually. Ephesians 6:10-18 sums it well:
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
That means we are in a war, sis. Whether you like it or not, aware or not, you are in a war, and it’s your job (your duty rather) to be fighting the way God wants you to. He calls you to put on the full armor of God, which includes the following:
Belt of Truth
Body Armor of God’s Righteousness
Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
Shield of Faith
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of the Spirit, also known as the Word of God.
God doesn’t give us strategies that go with the physical realm, but He gives us spiritual weapons because it’s a spiritual war. 2 Corinthians 10:5 states, “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.” That means that the weapons we use are powerful, and it’s up to us to use them the way God intends for us to use.
So with that, I pray you learned that you are in a battle, that the Lord doesn’t leave you empty-handed, is fighting for you, and wants you to fight back too. Let’s pray.
Father, You are so good. Thank You for making us warriors. Help us to know Your truth and to stand on that daily, each moment of the day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
With that, don’t forget these three things: you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
