It’s About Faith.
“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
(Romans 4:3b)
Did you know faith counts as righteousness before God? In Romans 4, we learn that Abraham’s faith (or his belief) was counted to Abraham as righteousness. It wasn’t works that made Abraham righteous; it was faith. Let’s pray.
Father, thank You for teaching me that works don’t get me right with You. Faith does. Help us to understand what faith truly is and to live it out. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When thinking about righteousness, righteousness means to have a right standing before someone. In this case, Abraham had right standing before God because of his faith. One might think it’s his actions that made it right before God, like his works, but really it starts from faith. Faith, I believe, starts obedience because if you don’t have faith in something, why would you make steps towards it? When God says something about you, do you act on what He said, or do you just take it to heart and leave it at that? While faith is a belief system, faith also requires action.
When Abraham believed God, it was counted to Him as righteousness, but as an act of his faith, he had to get circumcised. Reading Romans, I learned faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness before he did a step. His faith counted as righteousness, letting me know that my faith can be counted as righteousness rather than my works.
What does that mean to you? Do you actually believe what God said over your life? If so, how are you preparing for it? That’s faith (believing what God said about you, and then preparing yourself for what He’s said about you).
When it comes to lives, God doesn’t play about them (mine or yours). He has orchestrated every little detail and knows exactly what to expect. What we can do, and it’s imperative to do, is seek Him about what to do in our lives.
Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, thank You for being good. Thank You for preparing us with Your Word. Help us to know Your truth because it will set us free. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
That’s all I have for today! Don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
