Without Faith.

“And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe, and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

(Hebrews 11:6)

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’re going to be talking about faith. Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for faith. Thank You that it’s faith that makes us right with You. Help us to know that truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Hebrews 11:1 states that faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the certainty of things unseen. What does that mean? Faith is believing something, even when you don’t see it.

In the Bible, there are many people who have shown instances of faith. For example, Abraham believed God was going to give him a son in the following year. James, Jesus’ brother, talks about faith going along with works (James 2:17). Using the same example of Abraham, Abraham knew he was going to have a son because God told him (Genesis 18), but Abraham prepared by being intimate with his wife. If Abraham simply believed God and didn’t do any work, how was the son going to appear in this world?

So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

You can have faith that something is going to happen, but if you don’t do work to prepare for it, then your faith is kinda void (Julie’s wording). I’m not saying having no faith is wrong; the Bible does, but I’m also saying, along with the Bible, that faith without works is dead. You can’t sit around waiting for people to do stuff for you; in fact, you gotta do work to show your faith is acting.

What has the Lord told you to do? How have you been preparing for what He has told you? If you believe what He said, you’ll move accordingly.

Let’s pray:

Father, You are good, righteous, and holy. Teach us to number our days, and to know that faith produces good works for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
