Surrendered.
If I had to give a theme for this season of my life, I’d label it “surrendered.” You see, God has been working on me in a lot of areas, and one area He’s been focusing on is surrender. Let’s pray.
Heavenly Father, I come before You, saying thank You for this day. Thank You for knowing me God. Help us to know what surrender looks like in our day to day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’re going to be talking about being surrendered.
Merriam-Webster defines “surrender” as “[giving] up completely or [agreeing] to forgo especially in favor of another” (Merriam-Webster, 2026).
When you live surrendered to God, you forgo your desires in light of what God is asking you to do. It’s not easy, living a surrendered lifestyle. It requires to give up things you thought you loved, in light of the God you say you love.
But here’s the thing: you can be obedient to God without being surrendered.
You see, being surrendered is a heart posture. Being surrendered shows you trust God with the outcome, and you see Him as God. When you live surrendered, you live as though you’re saying to God, “God, I trust You, and I let You take control.”
Some may live as though they’re obedient to God, but they’re not really surrendered, they’re not really trusting God with the outcome, and they’re not having a positive attitude about it.
Obedience matters, yes, but the heart posture matters as well.
That’s why it’s important for God to check if we’re being obedient to Him and surrendered. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for surrender. Thank You for the example of Jesus’ life when He lived a life surrendered to You. Teach us to follow that example. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
