Lonely Load Carriers.

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and we’re back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’re going to be talking about “Lonely Load Carriers.” Let’s pray.

Dear God, You are kind. You are good. Thank You for being our Friend. Help us to know that You can carry the weight of our burdens and trust You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

How many of you like to carry stuff alone? I mean, hey, sometimes, it’s easier to do that than ask for help. It goes faster, right? But how many times have you carried something on your own, yet realized if you asked for help or received help, you would go much faster? That’s what I want to talk to you about today. Sometimes, in our lives, we live as though we have to do life alone, yet God calls us to be in community with others. We see it in Genesis, we see it in Exodus, and that’s where we’ll be focusing on today.

In Exodus, Moses, a great leader, was caught doing a lot of work alone, yet when Jethro, his father-in-law came to visit, he said that this was wrong. Eventually, Moses was going to be worn out, as well as the people, if he continued to do it this way (Exodus 18). Jethro advised Moses to appoint leaders over different groups and let them be able to make those decisions. If the cases were too difficult, then the cases would be brought to Moses.

I’m not sure if Moses already that idea and didn’t know how to execute it, but what I do know is that Moses was willing enough to listen to what Jethro said and to execute it quickly. This also points back to our relationship with God, the Father too. There are so many burdens that we carry that He wants to carry for us. He says, “My yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:29). God is letting us know that He wants to take our burdens, our anxieties, and cares from us. It’s because He cares.

There’s a song in the Haitian hymnal, that says this, “Nan pwen fado ke Jezi pa ka pote,” which translates to “there is no burden that Jesus cannot handle,” meaning there is nothing that you can put on God that He cannot handle.

There is nothing you can put on God that He cannot handle.

Malgre jou yo ka bay lajwa ou tristès, Jezi la pou toujou. “Though the days can bring joy or sadness, Jesus is there always.” While we may have friends who are there, God lets us know He is there all the time. He lets us know He is always willing to help, and He’s always willing to carry our burdens. What we can do is trust that He can handle it (our load) and actually give it to Him. Let’s pray.

Father, You are good. You are exposing the lonely load carriers in our lives. Teach us to lean on You and the people You’ve placed in our lives. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

That’s all I have for today! Don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
