How to Stop Doubting.

“Pourquoi donc perdre courage? Dieu demere Il m’aime encore! Et pour moi, chaque nuage a toujours sa frange d’or!”

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and this was a song the Lord gave to me when I was struggling with doubt.

I was struggling in believing the Lord’s love for me, and He sent me a song in the Chants d’Esperance (Haitian Hymnal of hope) to remind me. Let’s pray.

Father, thank You for being good. Thank You for letting us know trust is important. Father, there are moments we struggle, but help us to be mindful of Your character which doesn’t change. Help us to understand and believe that truth for ourselves. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Ici-bas bonheur supreme is the song I mentioned earlier, but I wanted to translate the part I posted above:

Why, then, lose heart? God abides; He still loves, and for me, every cloud always has its golden fringe.

Friend, there are moments when we struggle. There are moments, in which we may be driven to despair, but what shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? When we trust who God says He is, we trust His character. We trust in Him saying He’ll never leave us nor forsake us, meaning when we’re going to through something, we can trust God is near us and He hasn’t forgotten about us.

I’m not saying this as a license of sinning against God, but there are moments in which doubt may occur, and what I’ve been learning is that God doesn’t like doubt like that. In fact, He rebukes people who display little faith. But there is an instance where Jesus met someone in that doubt: John the Baptist. John the Baptist, also known as the forerunner tasked with preparing the way for Jesus was in prison when he started to display some doubts. He sent some followers of his to ask this question to Jesus: Are you the one we’re looking for, or should we look for someone else (Matthew 11:2-3)?

John is having a moment of doubt and takes it to Jesus, and Jesus tells John’s followers this: “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen— 5 the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.” 6 And he added, “God blesses those who do not fall away because of me” (Matthew 11:4-6).

Jesus addresses John’s apprehension, in a way that John would understand that Jesus is the One they were supposed to be looking for. It shows me that God is kind to let us know that when we doubt, we can bring that to Him, so He can help in it.

For me, it was through that song. Why was I losing Him? God’s love for me never changed (Romans 8:38-39), and when I struggle, I can go check the Word, which is truth.

To my friend who is struggling in doubt, God is not caught off guard. Bring it to Him and ask Him to help you be confident in the Word (His Word).

Talk to you soon! 🧡
