Fixed on a Growth Mindset.
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and I’m back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’re going to be talking about growth. Let’s pray.
Father, thank You for growth. Thank You for the fact that You want us to grow, You don’t want us to stay the same, and You want us to be like Christ. Help us to mature the way You want us to. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
If I could tell you how much I’ve grown this year, I’d need a page or so to explain it, but something that I learned is that growth didn’t happen overnight: it took discipline and time.
Growth, my friend, starts small. For example, when you grow a tree, you sow a small tree, and you discipline yourself to water it, give it nutrients, and make sure it gets sunlight. After that, over time, it’ll grow into the tree it was made to be. However, for the person observing it, s/he might just see a tree without knowing the work that the gardener did behind the scenes.
My journey started with the gym: going often and making a plan (or reaching out to someone to create a plan for me). It then trickled into quiet time and other areas in my life, where I noticed a shift would make things easier on my end. It came to church, where I had to schedule my schedule around church meetings because I committed to attending and wanted to honor my word, which led me to another thing: time management and discipline work together.
With time management, you track what’s going on with your time. You structure it in a way to make sure that you get what you need to do done on time. Yet, I learned that sometimes I like to have fun and get distracted by Instagram, so I had to limit myself: going back to discipline. If I didn’t discipline myself, I’d be wasting time, not accomplishing things, and feeling guilty without making a game plan for what to do next time.
It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it because now, I see myself as a different Julie: a disciplined Julie. I still have work to grow in, but at the end of the day, I’m proud of the progress made over the years.
For you, I want you to think of some goals, and here are some guiding questions: Where do you see yourself? What do you need to do to get there? What is God calling you to do? How can you schedule time to get it done?
When you structure your schedule accordingly and hold yourself accountable to meet those requirements, then you’ll grow into who God already created you to be: loved, salty, and lit.
That’s all I have for today! With that, I want to remind you of these three things: you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
