What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and griefs to bear

(Scriven, 2026).

How many of you know what it’s like to bring everything to the Lord in prayer? Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, we’re going to be talking about prayer. Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, You are so good and so kind. Thank You that You sent Your Son to die for our sins. Help us to know the relationship we have in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

When we talk about prayer, prayer is merely a conversation with God. It’s a time where two people (you and God) talk to each another, communing and growing in intimacy.

Think about a friend: In order for that relationship to grow, you two need to talk. You can’t grow in learning about the other person if you don’t commune with them. You have to spend time with God to learn about Him and His character.

Through spending time in prayer, we get to learn the things that frustrate Him - the things that make Him angry, the things that please Him, and the things that bring Him joy, but it comes from developing intimacy with Him.

He desires to hear from you, sis (or bro if you’re reading this). He also desires to know about the things going on in your mind. He knows what you’re going through, but He wants to hear from you: the frustrations, the sadness, the tears - all of them are important to Him, so trust that when you bring it to Him, you’re cared for.

Friend, there’s another line of the song I listed above:
Can we find a friend so faithful

Who will all our sorrows share

Jesus knows our every weakness;

Take it to the Lord in prayer

Like I said before, God wants us to take everything to Him in prayer. He knows our needs; He knows our struggles, but He wants us to take it before Him in prayer, so my friend, what would it look like to take it (whatever it may be for you - a struggle, a heartbreak, a question, or a thought) to the Lord in prayer? He’s ready to listen. Just speak, and He’ll respond.

Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being the faithful friend. Help us to know that You’re the faithful friend, that we can come to You at any time with our needs, but You also want intimacy with us. Help us to know You more each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Don’t forget these three things: you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
