Faith.
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world (Romans 1:8, ESV).
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, we’re going to be talking about faith.
Faith, according to Hebrews 11:1, is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (Shout out to VBS for helping me learn that song as a kid!). Faith is an expectation that something is going to happen even if you can’t see it yet.
In one case, Abraham displayed faith by believing God would give him a kid even though he was old (Genesis 17). Sarah demonstrated faith, though she laughed initially, yet believed God afterward (Genesis 18). In the verse above, Apostle Paul addresses the Romans by saying their faith is proclaimed in all the world, but it’s not their faith specifically. It’s the Good News of Jesus Christ, faith in God (the Gospel).
Paul is excited because evangelism (sharing the Good News) is going EVERYWHERE.
Faith is an expectation that something is going to happen even if you can’t see it yet.
What does that mean to you?
The Gospel that you hear today isn’t something that was accessible to us, but by God’s grace, we have the opportunity to hear it everywhere. There are still countries, nations, and people groups who haven’t heard the Gospel yet, but God is working (through us) to share the Gospel. We have received a commission (The Great Commission) to go into the world and make disciples of all men, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them everything Jesus taught. That’s our commission: to go.
We share the Gospel with others who don’t know Christ, and we do it with joy. We do it knowing it’s the least we can do for what God did for us for our sins.
So when we talk about faith, “who” have you put your trust in? Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of faith. Thank You that we are alive and well in You. Teach us to number our days and to trust You with our whole hearts. Help us to share the Good News wherever we go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
