Creatures of Habit.

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and we’re back with another segment of “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, we’re going to talk about creatures of habit. Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are good. You are kind. Thank You for making us fearfully and wonderfully made. Help us to understand that being creatures of habits is for our good. Help us to know Your ways and understand You more. We thank You Abba. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

My first grade class is full of creatures of habit — I got this phrase from an article that I read, and it relates to my class very well.

Last year, they had a structure, and coming into first grade, there was an expectation for the same structure to be put in place, and I’m learning that it benefits them when they follow that structure.

It’s similar in our own faith walk: structure is important. You see, there are people who have gone before us faith wise, teaching us how to walk in a Christlike manner. That’s why it’s important for us to follow the line that was placed before us.

In Joshua 1:8, God instructs Joshua to not depart from the book of the law, to meditate on it day and night. That means there’s a line that Joshua was to follow, and his following God’s Word will allow him to walk the way God wants him to walk.

The word legacy has been coming up for me lately. Am I following the pattern set before me, which isn’t a bad thing? But when I look at the fact that I come from a family that comes from a legacy with Christ, I can look back on that and see an example of how I can follow Christ. I’m not saying it’s easy, but sometimes, we can make things difficult than it needs to be.

How can we serve God faithfully? Look back at those who served God faithfully before us and follow in their footsteps.
