Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, I’ll be talking about “a circumcised heart” part two. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are good, and You are kind. Teach us to number our days. Help us to live lives surrendered to You. Amen.
Back in the 2010s, there was a popular song that came out: “I Give Myself Away” by William McDowell. I recall when it came out (or a bit after), the church’s youth conference sang that song daily. It was an anthem, reminding us of our commitment to Christ: He is our Lord, and He takes whatever He wants in our lives.
My question for you is this: Have you given your life to Christ?
Yes, you might’ve accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, but have you given your life to Him (surrendered it all, knowing He has control)? It’s very easy to say that God has our lives, as Pastor Stephanie Ike Okafor mentioned, but when the time comes for God to actually take our lives, are we living surrendered to Him?
No, at least I don’t a lot of times, but as someone who has committed to live a life of surrender onto God, I have to change that, yet it’s not me who does it alone; it’s God who helps me as I trust Him with my life.
In Romans 2:29 (NLT), it says, “No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.” Remember what I was talking about yesterday with circumcision? It’s a way to show that you’re living set apart unto God. You’re living separate unto Him. While yes, you don’t have to get circumcision for the flesh (for the guys), there is a circumcision of the heart that is done by all who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior and submit to His will.

When we live lives of circumcision unto God, it means we yield to His process and His command for our lives.
I’ll admit: there were many commands the Lord wanted me to follow, but I didn’t want to because I felt it was unfair. I still think it’s unfair at times, but I’ve come to realize the lifestyle God calls me to live requires a different standard of living for me. But back to circumcision, we are called to live a lifestyle of surrender to God, yielding to His process in our lives, as I mentioned before. What God calls you to surrender can be different from what He calls me to surrender, and it’s okay because we’re not on the same field. We have different lifestyles the Lord wants us to live, yet He still wants us to be holy and set apart, but the way in which He may call you and me to do it may differ at times.
Friend, my encouragement to you is to surrender yourself to God. He has plans for you, but ultimately He wants relationship with you, yes you. As you yield to the process, you’ll see what He can do in your life. Let’s pray.
