Ask Me Good News

Hey y’all! It’s your girl, Julie, and I’m back with another segment of “Salty & Lit!” Can I tell you something real quick? The Gospel is good news y’all! Let me say that again: THE GOSPEL IS GOOD NEWS Y’ALL.  Some of us might have heard the term “Gospel,” and others might be hearing this for the first time. However, I’ll say it one more time: The Gospel is good news, but there is a caveat - it’s good news to believers.

Romans 1 breaks down what the Gospel is:

The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name (Romans 1:3-5; NLT).

The Gospel, in laypeople’s terms, is God’s Son being raised to life by the Holy Spirit, so that anyone who believes in Him will obey. The Gospel can be spread by sharing this Good News to everyone. In fact, that’s what the Gospel means: “good news” in Greek. On the other hand, the penalty of those who don’t believe in Christ is death - not just death on earth, but spiritual and eternal death. However, those who believe in Christ will experience life abundantly. Y’all, we don’t have to die spiritually and eternally; in fact, God allows us the opportunity to believe in His Son, so that we can experience life in Him.

And for those that know God, are we treating the Gospel as Good News?

I’m going to be honest: I treat many spots better than I treat the Gospel. There’s a place I love to get food near my school, and everyone knows I love that spot. While I think it’s cool to tell others about favorite food spots to put them on, I wonder how many people I haven’t put on to this life we can experience with God, but lately, God has been allowing me to share the Gospel in different spaces!

Let me remind you that the Gospel is good news y’all. While it’s not your obligation to have others believe, it is your duty as a Christian to spread the Gospel wherever you go - not just in the spaces that already know God. Using these posts, I pray we can learn how to share the Gospel together. Let’s pray.

Father, Thank you so much for your goodness. You love us so much, so much that You gave Your Son to die for us, and not just that, but You raised Him to life with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for Your power, Lord, and the fact that Your power lives in us today, in those who believe. Father, we trust that we have authority in You. Help us to walk in that authority everywhere, sharing the Gospel wherever we go, in speech, in life, and everything we do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thank you, and talk to you soon! Bye! 🧡
