Flooding Glorious Light.

In class, I watched a video about whether one can truly see in the dark. A kid boasted about being able to see in the dark, and when put in a situation of doing that, they realized they actually couldn’t. They realized they had light sources helping them see along the way.

Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, back with “Salty & Lit,” and in today’s post, I’ll talk about God’s Glorious Light.

Have you ever saw something glorious? My classroom tends to complain whenever I have the blinds up because the light shines in their faces, so they can’t see, but do you see that as our mission as light?

In Ephesians 1, Paul the apostle starts speaking about a light. He says in Ephesians 1:18, “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called — his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.”

Two things I find here: we are rich and an inheritance. But furthermore, we are God’s inheritance. You see, God bought us with a price, in that while in sin, Christ died for us, and for those who accept Christ’s death and resurrection for our sins, we get this life with Christ, eternal life at that, and we inherit blessings.

However, prior Paul mentions to the church that he’s praying God gives them spiritual wisdom, after giving them kudos for their faith and love for others. You see Paul knew what he was talking about. He knew the love the church had for each other. He knew of their faith, but he still prayed a prayer for them. How many of you do that? Recognizing that God moves through someone, but yet God might have you praying a prayer for them?

In Paul’s note, he mentions being flooded with light. When I see this, I think that there are areas in the Ephesians’ (the people Paul wrote the letter to) heart that are dark. It’s not to say it’s a bad thing, but Paul is asking God to fill their hearts with light, so they can understand the confident hope they have in Christ. You see, you can go your whole church knowing the hope we have, but until it’s heart knowledge, it needs more depth.

So my friend, pray the Lord provides heart knowledge in your life.
