“Love is patient… It (love) keeps no record of wrongs.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-6 (Julie’s Translation)
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and I’m back with another segment of “Salty & Lit.” In today’s post, we’re going to be talking about love. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, You are so good. Help us to know what it means to love and to love well, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
So love… a four letter word that means “affection and tenderness felt by lovers,” according to Merriam-Webster. While we know love based on what the dictionary says, we also know love based on what God says. In 1 Corinthians 13, God says, “Love is patient, love is kind, it doesn’t envy, it does not boast.” He gives us a list of things of what love is, and sometimes what love is not. Implied by saying the opposite, you can say love is not impatient, love is not unkind, love is not envious, love is not boastful because if you do those things, you’re not walking in love anymore.
When God says to walk in love in 1 Corinthians 13, one of the things I want to highlight is that it keeps no record of wrongs. I have a student, who is friends with another student. While they argue a lot, they are friends because they make up quickly and get back to playing with each other. It’s very interesting to see how quickly they get over things, because by the time I get to addressing the conflict, they tell me he said sorry to me already, everything is fine. Working with kids helps you learn how to love well because they’re quick to forgive. They’re quick to let go of the wrong that was done to them and move on, and that’s a learning lesson.
What does it look like to love? Look at kids, and they’ll show you how to love. Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us how to love. Help us to love well through You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Talk to you soon! 🧡
