Change the Scenery
CHANGE THE SCENERY
“They are like trees planted”
(Psalm 1:3)
Y’all ever had a moment where you see the same thing everyday, and after a while, you’ve seen it so many times you just consider it “ehh?” That was my experience with my relationship with God, and after a while, I felt that God was boring because I was doing the same stuff over and over.
Hey everyone! It’s your girl Julie, and I’m back with another segment of “Salty & Lit!” Today’s post is what I’d like to call “Change the Scenery,” and it comes from an experience that I had with God when it came to my time with God, but before I go deeper, let’s pray!
Father, thank You so much for being so good and being our Friend. Thank You so much for the new that we can experience with You. We don’t have to stick to the schedule but we can invite you in everything we do; thank You so much for all of these things. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
So SWITCH UP THE SCENERY. I’m learning about relationships, and I’m learning that it doesn’t have to be the same thing over and over. In fact, it’s encouraged to change the scenery from time to time, so we don’t get to a point where we don’t want to hang out with that person anymore.
When I was having this quiet time, I came and acted like everything was peaches and cream. However, the thing that I learned about God is He wants us to be honest with Him. If we’re going through something, pretending that everything is okay isn’t going to do you any good; in fact, it may do more harm than good. When I was with God, I didn’t want to read my Bible; it felt routine and I tried to get my verses in and then leave once I got them out. Again, God knew what was up, but I didn’t say anything. I spoke about what I was going through to other people, but the Person I needed to tell, I was avoiding as best as I could, which didn’t really work because everywhere I go, God is there (Psalm 139). In the midst of that, God still helped me even when I avoided Him.
He sent people my way to think of different ways to spend time with God; some ways include going on a date with God, journaling, walking, dancing, and so many other things. Yes, God time must encompass Bible time and prayer, but God is so big that He can be in the other things we do too. When we do life with God, we aren’t to compartmentalize Him to one area of our life; no, He invades every part and we get to see how we can do life with Him. I’d say it’s great, knowing our time with Him isn’t limited, so what would it look like for you to switch up the scenery with your God time? How can you grow in seeing Him in a new way as a result?
Y’all, the game changer is when we recognize how a relationship with God can be; the same way we wouldn’t keep doing the same thing over and over with someone to not get bored; we don’t have to do that with God. Let’s change the scenery.
Let’s pray.
Father, thank You for the fact that we are able to change the scenery with You. We’re not alone when we do life with You, so help us to see how You want us to experience You more and more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Talk to you soon, and don’t forget you are loved, salty, and lit! Bye!
