Where Are You!

Hi y’all! It’s your girl Julie, we’re back with another segment of “Salty and Lit,” and in today’s post, we’ll be talking about “Where Are You?” Let’s get started.

Father, You are good. You’re a Friend, and You’re Righteous. Thank You for writing. Help it be to Your glory. Amen.

So, what do you do when you want to run? What do you do when God’s called you to something, but in turn, you decide to run?

We find that in Elijah’s story. Elijah is a big prophet. In the Bible, a prophet is someone who spoke for the Lord. In that case, God only spoke to specific people at a time, and in that time, He spoke through prophets. Elijah was a big shot. He went hard for the Lord. One of the biggest things we see in Scripture is that he had a showdown for the Lord. God asked him to deliver a message, saying rain was coming, and Elijah decided to have a showdown telling people to decide whether they wanted to follow God or Baal (a false god). At the end of it all, God proved He was the true God, and after we find out Elijah is in hiding. Why? Because someone wanted to kill him.

Elijah was a big shot, and God worked through him mightily, but Elijah cowered in fear. He gave in to Jezebel (the queen who wanted him dead) and went to hide, and this is where we find our passage today. Elijah is in a cave, and God calls out to Elijah asking what is he doing there (1 Kings 19:9, 13). God calls out to Elijah twice, asking the same question, “What are you doing here?” The question I ask is “What are you doing here, Julie (insert your name here)?” What are you doing here? Where are you supposed to be that God called you to do, but you’re not there?

For me, it was blogging. God called me to write a long time ago, and I cowered. Why, you may ask? Because I was afraid. I was afraid of people and what they might think of me when I shared posts. It’s funny, isn’t it? Salt and light, sharing truth but being afraid to do that. That’s real, and Elijah felt the same thing too. But what I learned is that God doesn’t care about fear. In fact, He calls you past the fear/your true identity and calls you to do what He’s told you to do. For Elijah, God called him back. God called him back to where he was originally and gave instruction, so with that, what are you supposed to be doing?

Friend, God loves you and cares. He wants you to know you’re loved, salty, and lit. Don’t cower in fear with what’s happened to you, but God knows and calls you His own. So girl, you’re loved, salty, and lit. Trust that.

Father, You are so good. Thank You for the gift of writing. Thank You for freedom in writing. As I write, may others experience You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

With that, don’t forget to subscribe, you’re loved, salty, and lit! Bye! 🧡
